5 MW Solar Panels Farm–Philippines 2012

In 2012, Merhein sent out 20000 Solar Panels to a solar farm in the Philippines. At that time, the Philippines were in severe shortage of electricity supply.  Having the solar panels installed, the issue of power blackout was improved significantly, and the cost of electricity was reduced up to 1/3 of the original cost.  We supported Renewable Energy Fund and helped local Investments and project management companies invest in solar energy development because we believe that renewable energy is the way to go.

To prove our point, we did extensive research in solar energy in order to maximize energy efficiency and output, as well as to calculate expected return and evaluate potential risks. In addition to research and development, we were also responsible for manufacturing solar panels and quality assurance by sending out our engineering team to test the solar panels.

Today, the solar farm has been operating for almost two years. 10 MW energy was created for the community, and 3 tons of greenhouse gases were reduced as a consequence. It continues to bring the benefits for local people in terms of health, economy and environment.

Street Light Study – Egypt 2013

Merhein also carried out a big scale “Street Light Project” in Egypt in 2013. After the streetlights were comprehensively installed on a 2-kilometer stretch of highway.  Thanks to the installation, the number of accidents were reduced by 20% and energy usage was decreased by 60%, maintenance costs were also decreased by 300%. The project started by an invitation from a local Electric Fitting Company, we were invited to conduct a study on street lighting in Egypt, and provide technical skills as well as source for fitting products.

We conducted analyses on the local environment, identified the quantity, types of the products needed and customization required. We were in charge of sourcing, quality control and freight to maintain consistency and ensure quality of the projects.  It was our intention to enhance the brightness while bringing down the electricity and maintenance cost.

Supply of Construction Materials – Central Africa 2013

In 2013, Merhein partnered with one of the biggest construction companies in central Africa. We took charge of sourcing and the entire supply chain management. For the project, we supplied over 6000 tons of raw materials, electric products such as wall tiles, floor tiles, windows, doors, paint, roofing, electric products, etc. In this project, we gave our biggest support in finding better price, controlling the quality of the products and customizing them for our partners.

To provide the above support, we negotiated with our partners in length and performed quality control, production monitoring, loading inspection and shipping monitoring. The challenge of this project was to keep a balance between quality and cost. We worked together closely in arranging the supply of goods to make sure delivery is smooth and on time.

Until today, we are still working with Xing Ji, we cherish our partnership to do more great work for local people.

Prefabricated House Building

Knowing that house-building development is thriving in Africa, in 2014, Merhein took initiative in helping the government in housing construction in West Africa.  Aiming to improve the quality of buildings and facilities in West Africa, we emphasized high sustainability, moderate complexity and economic cost of our housing designs and materials.  At the same time, to ensure smooth process and optimal cost, we served as the main supplier and play an imperative advisory role of the project. In this way, we hoped to ultimately enhance the living standard of people in West Africa.

To offer accurate and optimal solutions to the project, we surveyed the premier and provided construction advice, such as sourcing preference and steel structure designs.  We also sent out our engineering team to train local workers and monitor construction process to ensure the  quality and lifespan of the houses and their facilities.

We were also responsible for supplying all the materials needed to do the assembly. By doing that, we not only brought down the cost, but also smoothened and centralized the building process.

By having a bicultural team of Chinese and French, we achieved an ideal balance in terms of client-supplier communication. We worked together with our translators to enhance the organization of our work.  Most importantly, we also prepared contingency plans for every step of our process, so to make sure we meet our goals and deadlines as scheduled.
